POSITION OVERVIEW

The Cross Creek Metropolitan District (CCMD) seeks a motivated and community-oriented professional to serve as Outreach Coordinator. This role is responsible for overseeing outreach and community-building initiatives, as well as related recreational and educational programming, within the Cross Creek Metropolitan District.

Work is performed under the supervision of the CCMD District Manager. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to interpret and execute both written and verbal directives, collaborate effectively within a team environment, and proficiently operate tools and equipment relevant to assigned responsibilities.

This is an independent contractor position. Qualified applicants must carry their own insurance, manage their own tax withholding, and demonstrate the ability to self-direct their schedule in order to fulfill the responsibilities outlined below.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Manage day-to-day operations of the Community Garden and future Demonstration Garden, including coordination of associated volunteer activities

•  Administer reservations for park fields and pavilion facilities

•  Organize and lead two community clean-up events annually

•  Maintain and update outreach content on the CCMD website (Cross Creek Park tab) and manage the District's Facebook presence

•  Cultivate partnerships with Cross Creek BMX, the City of Fountain Parks and Recreation Department, and other local organizations to develop collaborative events and programs

•  Recruit, organize, and lead a volunteer group to support clean-ups, art installations, and other community-building initiatives

•  Develop and maintain a community events calendar, including youth-oriented programming such as science education activities

•  Propose and support improvements to park functions and services

•  Serve as a primary point of public contact, exchanging information and ensuring compliance with park rules and regulations. This position will represent most park visitors’ interactions with the district, and as such, must be friendly, professional, inclusive and positive. 

•  Collaborate and interact with the District's landscape and building maintenance contractor, with both entities reporting directly to the CCMD District Manager

•  Clean and stock the Little Free Library

•  Conduct site visits and report to district manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•  Demonstrate knowledge of outdoor recreation principles and park operations best practices

•  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a professional and welcoming representative of CCMD to the general public

•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, website editing and social media. 

•  Ability to read, interpret, and apply written materials including park management plans, regulations, and operational policies

•  Competency in basic mathematical functions; ability to compile and analyze data and produce written reports with findings and recommendations

•  Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•  Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective working relationships across diverse groups

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•  Prior experience in park operations; management experience strongly preferred

•  Background in one or more related fields, such as outdoor education or community outreach

•  Experience developing and delivering presentations to boards or governing bodies

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS & COMPENSATION

Base hourly pay: $25 - $35, depending on experience and qualifications as listed above. 

CCMD is seeking an independent contractor or contracting firm, not an employee. All interested parties must be properly self-insured and must meet applicable legal qualifications for independent contractor status prior to engagement.
